For future reference, here are our guidelines:

Unstuck considers unsolicited fiction manuscripts of up to 15,000 words. Most of the stories we accept range from 2,000 to 8,000 words. We are not a market for unsolicited non-fiction, visual art, or poetry.

We emphasize literary fiction with elements of the fantastic, the futuristic, the surreal, and the strange. (If you think your piece might be appropriate, go ahead and send it; there's no need to query us.)

We do not accept submissions that have been published previously (whether online or in print) in English. We are eager, on the other hand, to read and publish English translations of work that has previously been available only in other languages.

We do not pay by the word. For Issue #4, we will offer contributors a flat per-story rate of at least $50, along with two print copies of the journal.

We accept simultaneous submissions, but respectfully request that you withdraw your submission immediately if your story is accepted elsewhere.

Please submit only once during each submissions window, even if you receive a rejection letter before the window has closed.

We regret that we're unable to provide personalized responses to most of the submissions that we receive. A form rejection does not imply that we did not enjoy or admire your story, or that we don't want to see more of your work during our next reading period: only that the piece you submitted wasn't right for the particular issue we were putting together.

Thanks so much for sharing your work with us. Keep writing!
